Limited Capacity seats available

The future of public libraries relies on their ability to anticipate demand and keep up with the evolving needs of patrons. To do so, public librarians must introduce methods that help to demonstrate a demand for new material before it is purchased, therefore increasing circulation and reducing time spent weeding "dead" items. This presentation will share statistics from research into the number of newly purchased library items across the U.S.A. that have never circulated. The discussion will move onto ways in which librarians can reduce this number by applying an evidence-based methodology, a selection decision support system, and data-driven analytics.
